Same Sex Wedding Rings
When searching for wedding bands to symbolize your relationship, a rainbow flag of gemstones may not cut it. This page shows wedding rings that gay and lesbian couples have made with their own hands in my workshops. Many of the rings are also showcased throughout the site, because my LGBTQ customers’ rings are awesome.
Hammered Red Gold Wedding Rings
These simple and elegant hammered red gold rings were made by super-well-educated computer programmers from Brazil. It is a little more difficult to evenly hammer rounded rings, but this couple did a stellar job.
Wedding Rings from Family Gold
This couple brought a Krugerrand bullion coin that his grandfather gave him years ago. We alloyed half into white gold and put the rest on the inside liner. This customer also redesigned my website, because he rocks!
Mokume Gane Wedding Rings
A lot of same sex couples make mokume gane wedding rings. These rings can be etched or smooth, and can showcase: silver, white and red gold (shown); silver, yellow and white gold; or just silver and white gold.
Wedding Rings with Stones
Many lesbian couples sport wedding rings with gemstones – more often a few thoughtfully placed gemstones than the ubiquitous eternity band of diamonds. Featured here are platinum wedding rings with five sapphires each.
Red Gold Rings with Baguette Diamonds
This superstar lesbian couple put round and baguette diamonds into red gold bands. They had a fantastic time making their wedding rings in my shop, and I had fantastic time working with them, because they were all smiles the entire day.
Men’s Wedding Rings with Sapphires
One platinum ring sports upside-down sapphires from his mother’s family. The other has a squiggly channel of sapphires around the band, which looks better than the first ring. Just kidding.
Gold Wedding Rings & Baby Ring
Sometimes your client shows up with the cutest baby ever! So I made a tiny ring for the baby, because I love babies. And Greek food.
Wedding Rings with Red Gold Stripe
Remember the hammered red gold rings from the top of the page? They lost one of them 🙁 So they made white gold bands, stretched out the red gold from their remaining ring, and created a hammered red gold stripe on the white gold rings. Voila.
Meteorite Wedding Rings
I’m slipping in this pair of meteorite rings that I made – commissioned by a wonderful gay couple who just love shooting stars. So they named their business after them. Then they symbolized their love with an actual piece of one, carved into rings and worn every day.
Yellow and White Gold Stripes
This couple brought in a bunch of family jewelry to melt down and form into this baller pair of wedding rings. One teaches opera classes and conducts, while the other teaches and choreographs dance – including Cyrano de Bergerac which played at the Met this past May.
Inlay Wedding Rings
This couple inlaid a small amount of gold from a grandparent’s ring into their platinum bands. They also have been working to unionize fast food workers across the country. And they recommend the documentary “Edie & Thea” if you haven’t seen it yet.
Platinum with Mokume Inlay
Combining the techniques of inlay and mokume gane results in very subtle and incredibly cool color and/or texture. This couple did this with platinum bands and red gold and mokume gane inlay.
Mokume Gane Wedding Rings
While these rings were made back in 2011, the exuberance that this couple displayed about making these wedding rings – and for everything wedding related – has not faded the least from my memory. Perhaps it had a bit to do with the legalization of gay marriage in New York on June 24, 2011.
Wedding Rings With Stripes
It’s easy to make a matching pair of wedding rings – even if you want different color wedding rings. Here we put a stripe of the opposite ring’s gold on each ring. And we put a bunch of dirty fingerprints on the rings just before we photographed them. Doh!
Platinum & Red Gold Liner Wedding Ring
Wedding rings with liners are particularly popular among my male customers. This pair features platinum with red gold. You can catch a photo of these clients melting the gold for these bands in the Same Sex Workshops page.
Platinum Rings with Multi-Colored Stones
We have a sapphire, flanked by two smaller lab created blue diamonds, flanked by two smaller white diamonds. We made these back in 2007, so I apologize for the photo quality.
